The best time to visit Los Cabos: a month-by-month guide

July 8, 2026 · KnowCabo

Los Cabos gets around 350 sunny days a year, so there's no truly "bad" time to visit — but there is a best time for you, depending on whether you care most about whales, warm water, low prices, or dodging the heat and hurricane season. Here's the honest breakdown.

The two seasons

Cabo has a desert climate with two clear seasons:

You can always check today's real numbers on the live weather dashboard.

Month by month

December–March — peak season. The best weather and whale season (mid-December to mid-April) collide with the North American winter escape and the holidays. Expect perfect days, whales offshore… and the highest prices and biggest crowds. March adds spring break.

April–May — the sweet spot. Still warm and dry, whales linger into early April, the water starts warming up, and crowds and prices ease after Easter. Great weather without the peak-season chaos.

June–August — hot & cheaper. Real heat and humidity arrive, but so do deals. The Sea of Cortez turns warm and calm, sport fishing (marlin, dorado, tuna) hits its stride, and the East Cape surf switches on with south swells. Hurricane risk is low but rising.

September–October — the gamble. The hottest, most humid, wettest stretch, and the peak of hurricane season. Direct hits are rare, but this is when they happen, and afternoon storms are common. Fewest tourists and lowest prices — go with travel insurance and keep an eye on the hurricane center.

November — the quiet winner. Heat and hurricane season are basically over, the dry season returns, the water is still warm from summer, and the winter crowds haven't arrived yet. A local favorite.
